I would like to create a desktop application that can handle post/get requests, similar to what a web service can do. But it MUST be a .NET desktop application. I am not sure how to go about this? The reason why it needs to be a desktop application is: I need to give the application access to files that I simply CANNOT grant a web service access to. Now, if I have to, it is ok if I need to create a Web Service that handles the requests by passing data between the client and this proposed desktop app, that is ok. Just not sure how to go about it on the desktop app side? What protocols and libraries would be used?
