VS 2012 Filling a Combobox

I have been trying to understand all the code examples but finding it difficult. Please help.
This is simple....(for you)

I am trying to fill a combobox and have set the .datasource, .displaymember and .valuemember properties, however, at run time, the combobox is not populating. What am I missing?

Does anyone have a translation for VB6 programmers of code for accessing,inserting,deleting etc records in an Access database into VB.net. VB.net seems difficult for me to pick up. I bought 2 reference books and still don't understand. Maybe I am getting too old....for new tricks.
